Let’s hear it for Sid the beagle, the adorable food-selfie-taking dog.
Sid has a remarkable ability to hold food in his mouth, patiently waiting to be photographed and videotaped — and totally resisting the urge to scarf down the delicious item clamped delicately between his teeth.
Here’s Sid holding bacon. There’s Sid holding a doughnut (plain, from the looks of it). And there he is posing with a cookie, a hot dog, a cheeseburger, a slice of pepperoni pizza. At times, Sid looks so relaxed one worries he might just tip right over and nap, only to wake up atop a sadly smashed snack.
But fear not: Sid may look as if he’s often on the brink of slumber, but he’s actually living the dream. He and his Austin-based owner, Alex Hopes, just spent eight months traveling around the country, putting 15,000 miles on the car. “Camping in the mountains, sleeping under the stars and conquering the road warrior lifestyle!” Hopes writes.
The Instagram account following his adventures and celebrating his adorableness has 41,700 followers (and counting). And his YouTube videos have racked up scads of views — more than 61,000 for this food-holding compilation alone.
“He’s had a pretty good Instagram following for a long time, but in the last week it’s really blown up,” Hopes recently told viral-video site Right This Minute. “People really seem to go nuts over dogs with food.”
Guilty as charged.
